The Youth of Ho and Adaklu have expressed their displeasure about the stalled Youth Resource Center at Tsrefe near Ho in the Volta Region.
The Center is to promote sports in Ho and Adaklu but has been left to rot.
The failure to complete the resource center for use has raised agitation amongst the youth in the region as they questioned the Nana Akufo-Addo and Mahamadu Bawumia-led NPP government why the facility has not been completed a year after the 66th National Independence Day Anniversary Celebration held at the center.
Sod was cut according to the youth for construction of the Youth Resource Development Center in 2018 by the then Minister for Youth and Sports, Isaac Asiamah.
The edifice was expected to be completed in 9 months, but 6 years on the structures have been left to the mercy of the weather.
The irate youth alleged that prior to the 66th National Independence Day Anniversary Celebration parade held at the resource center, work on the facility progressed rapidly expected to be completed before the celebration which never was, notwithstanding a successful anniversary at the center.
This development, they say, necessitates people of the Volta Region to come to conclusion that government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is insensitive to the plight of the youth of the region.
.
“The abandonment of such a project without considering Youth development activities such as sports, skills training among others is taken as a deliberate act by government to discriminate against the Youth of Volta in the distribution of the national cake” the youth fumed.
They said one year after the successful independence parade, the construction firm on the project, Wilcado Construction Company Ltd, left the site, leaving a skeletal staff without any equipment.
The VIP stand is an eyesore, ceilings are falling apart, glass windows at the commentary box are also broken, air conditioners are decaying, and the entire facility is taken over by weeds. All the iron gates have fallen on the ground as well as the decorated seats fading off. The green grass on the football field is dried-up without the two goal posts.
Meanwhile the youth led by their spokesmen, continued to express their displeasure about the continuous neglect of the Ho sports stadium that is host to all sporting and games activities in the Volta Region.
According to them, the Ho Sports Stadium established in 1957 has seen no renovation in spite of several appeals.
Raymond Kudjoe Tsiagbe and Foster Osei, some of the unhappy youth who shared their frustrations with 3news said government has not been fair to the youth of Volta Region.
The youth threatened that the only language government understands is demonstration and that they would soon advice themselves in that direction.
