Sarkodie’s verse on ‘Jennifer Lomotey’ song caused issues; we met with Krobo elders for peaceful resolution – Kurl Songx

Ghanaian artiste, Kurl Songx has opened up about the issues that arose after Sarkodie’s verse on his song, ‘Jennifer Lomotey’.

Kurl Songx in an interview on Onua FM’s Adwuma Adwuma, disclosed that some Krobo chiefs and elders were agitated over Sarkodie’s words in that song.

The rapper in the song which was released in 2017 spoke about Krobo ladies and acts of promiscuity, reiterating a known folklore about young ladies from Krobo.

He said “Krobonii baa papa a ahwene? da ne sisi, Komfo Anokye de adwaman ab? no dua”, to wit “A beautiful Krobo lady with beads on her waist, she has been cursed with promiscuity by Komfo Anokye.”

These words spurred anger and agitations, particularly from the people of Krobo. He explained that they had to meet with some elders from Krobo at a hotel in East Legon to resolve the matter amicably.

“I got to understand that it’s part of the work. We met them and solved it amicably. Together with Sarkodie’s late lawyer, my manager and we talked about it. We met I think in East Legon and we explained to them that this is not personal, its art,” he told Felicia Osei on August, 22.

Kurl Songx further emphasized that the rapper’s words were not intentional and he did not intend to tarnish the reputation of Krobo ladies.

He maintained that Sarkodie was only being artistic.

“Thanks to them, somebody else would not have understood because it was very sensitive. Sarkodie’s word were out of arts not to just tarnish someone’s image,” he added.
