Intermittent rain in Kumasi has slowed down the voters register exhibition exercise on its first day.
The exercise is to allow voters verify their details as captured during the voter registration exercise.
In most of the polling stations visited by 3news.com, less than 10 voters had checked their details hours after the exercise began.
Whilst the rain was a contributory factor to the low turnout, some voters also appear unaware of the commencement of the exercise.
When asked why he is yet to verify his voter registration details, Osei Ameyaw indicates “I am not aware of any voter exhibition exercise. But since you’re now telling me, I will ensure I go and check my details tomorrow”.
But for Nazir Ilyas, he is not considering participating in the exhibition exercise because his mind is already made up not to vote this year.
“I’m honestly tired of failed promises by politicians and I’m not ready to vote in the coming election. So, it is not necessary for me to confirm my details in the voter register”.
Officials of the Electoral Commission are hoping to see an improved turnout in the coming days.
The 8-day exhibition exercise assist voters locate their designated polling stations and offers an opportunity for them to request for amendment in their details where necessary.
