Guinness Ghana brings football frenzy to Accra with EPL matchday event

Guinness Ghana Brewery Limited has kicked off the 2024/25 English Premier League season with the launch of its highly anticipated Eenglish Premier League (EPL) matchday events and Fantasy Premier League (FPL) competition.

The launch event, held on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at the Barndoor Beer Garden in Osu, drew a large crowd of football enthusiasts and social media influencers. Attendees were treated to a thrilling experience as they watched Manchester City secure a 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, marking the first match of the new Premier League season.

Wilma Amoo-Osae, Brand Manager of Guinness Ghana, expressed her excitement about the launch, highlighting the vibrant atmosphere of the event. “The energy was there; it was bigger and better,” Amoo-Osae remarked.

One of the major highlights of the event was the announcement of an exciting reward for participants in the Guinness Ghana Fantasy Premier League. Amoo-Osae revealed that the ultimate winner of the FPL competition will win an all-expenses-paid trip to England next season to watch a Premier League match live.

“This time around, we launched the Guinness FPL where our ultimate winner gets a fully funded trip to watch an EPL game next season,” she explained.

Additionally, Guinness Ghana used the event to unveil a new football-themed movie, which will be available on Showmax. “We gave the general experience that was crafted by football,” Amoo-Osae added.

Looking ahead, Amoo-Osae promised that future events would be even more spectacular, emphasizing Guinness’ deep-rooted connection to football. “If we talk about football, we talk about Guinness. Guinness and football have been the best combo since time immemorial,” she said.

As the official beer sponsor of the English Premier League, Guinness is poised to make a significant impact this season. “This time, Guinness is the official beer sponsor of the English Premier League. We’ve been doing Guinness Matchday events, but this time around, it’s much more special to us because we’re coming in as the beer owners of EPL. It’s been an amazing time for us, and there’s so much more we’ll be doing with the EPL,” Amoo-Osae concluded.
