The Gold Fields Ghana Foundation have handed over the newly constructed and refurbished Tarkwa & Abosso (T&A) Stadium in Tarkwa in the Western Region to the National Sports Authority in a ceremony held on Friday, August 16.
The rehabilitation work on the TnA Stadium started four years ago and was completed in June this year for US$16.2m, Executive Secretary of Goldfields Foundation, Razak Abubakar confirmed.
This significant investment by the Gold Fields Ghana Foundation has transformed the 400-seat football park into an 8,000-plus seater world-class stadium, capable of hosting international matches.
Goldfields Foundation stated the National Sports Authority will manage the facility with support from the Tarkwa Municipal Assembly.
“The facility was in existence before we started the renovation and the National Sports Authority were the managers so it’s only fair they continue with it and the Assembly support them.
“We can assure that this facility will not be handled like the other sporting facilities in the country,” Razak assured.
A total amount of US$16.2m was used to transform the facility
Ghana Premier League side, Medeama SC will use the venue for their home games.
