A Former Senior Advisor at the United Nations, Professor Baffuor Agyeman-Duah has said that Ghana’s economic situation will not change even if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins the elections.
To him, if the NDC wins, they will have no option but to continue the ongoing programme with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the conditions attached to it.
He said this while making an observation on the nature of democracy Ghana is practicing, on the Key Points on TV3 Saturday, August 10.
To him, although democracy is good, the way and manner it is being done in Ghana has not been beneficial to Ghanaians.
He stressed that the one achievement of Ghana’s democracy is the successful change of government in the Fourth Republic.
“When you engage, they are very disappointed, they don’t know the future for themselves, they don’t see…we the elders are not demonstrating that the future will be bright for them, they know our democracy is overly monetized, politics steal money and buy their seats.
“NDC winning to the government will not change much, they are not going to change anything but of course, somebody has to win and the people of Ghana will decide,” he said.
