Ghanaian actor Kwadwo Nkansah, also referred to as Lil Win, has finally apologised to actress Martha Ankomah for some defamatory remarks towards her.
It will be recalled that Lil Win in a video that went viral on social media used some unprintable words on the person of Martha Ankomah questioning her prominence in the movie industry, among others.
The actress then sued Lil Win for defamation demanding GH¢5 million in damages, compensatory damages for harm to her reputation, retraction and apology among other reliefs.
Although the case is still in court scheduled for another hearing on August 26, Lil Win has apologised in a post which has since gone viral.
During the United Showbiz show on Saturday, August 3, Lil Win apologised to the Ghallywood actress stating that his intentions were not to insult her.
“I apologize for what I did. Martha Ankomah is not only a sister, but she is a colleague too. I accept my fault and render an unqualified apology to her. I want to use this medium and call on all of you present in the studio, Fada Dickson, Despite among others, to apologize to her for me,” he said.
In court on July 31, lawyers for the plaintiff announced a new development in the case prior to the hearing.
Accra-based Starr FM reports that Martha Ankomah’s legal team, led by Nii Apatu Plange, informed the court that a settlement had been reached between the plaintiff and the defendant.
This prompted a brief adjournment by the court to finalise the agreement.
“There has been some development. We were supposed to start the trial today, (Wednesday, July 31). Unfortunately, some development has come up, and I pray that my client and I approach the bench,” he submitted.
The presiding judge, Justice Forson Agyapong Baah acknowledged the development and adjourned the case to August 26, 2024, to formalise the settlement.
