Member of Parliament for Atwima Kwawonma and Deputy Defense Minister, Kofi Amankwah-Manu has said the opposition national democratic congress has harboured a grand and coordinated agenda to discredit the government of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) currently launched by the president, H.E. Akufo-Addo.
Under the programme, 2,240 pieces of road construction equipment have been released to metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies to either rehabilitate or construct new roads to help improve infrastructural development.
Member of Parliament for Banda and deputy minority chief whip, Ahmed Ibrahim in an interview with Accra-based Okay fm said the programme was initiated by the NDC “the district road improvement programme was launched by President Mahama in July 2016. The only problem President Mahama had was that he collapsed the Ministry of Information so most of the project’s he did could not be properly publicised” he said.
But Kofi Amankwah-Manu described the claim of the minority mp as frivolous and false which should be treated with all contempt.
“Ahmed’s statement is very unfortunate, Infact, I least expected that this will come from him because I know Ahmed; he is my friend and I know he is an honourable person.”
“If you could remember, the day of the commissioning even, some NDC members commended the president for the initiative, so why would Ahmed go on air and say Mahama started this project?” He queried.
“I would not be surprised that, next time he would even say Mahama created the world”
To Lawyer Amankwah-Manu, “there is a plot by the opposition party to discredit the government of all monumental projects in the country” He told Akoma fm’s William Evans-Nkum
