President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has underscored his achievements in the roads sector.
Since 2017, he said the government has completed over 12,830 kilometers of roads and added six interchanges.
He described this as a remarkable achievement compared to the previous administration.
The president said this today Wednesday, July 31 when he launched the District Road Improvement Programme.
This initiative, he said, is a testament to the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia Government’s commitment to decentralizing development and ensuring that every corner of Ghana benefits from progress and prosperity.
During the event, President Akufo-Addo announced the commissioning of an impressive fleet of 2,240 essential equipment, including motor graders, backhoes, rollers, and more.
These tools are not just machinery; they are instruments of change and symbols of our dedication to improving the lives of all Ghanaians, he said.
“Road infrastructure is the backbone of our economic growth and social development. By improving our road networks, we are enhancing connectivity, boosting economic activities, and improving the quality of life for countless Ghanaians.
“This ambitious programme will not only improve our road infrastructure but also create employment opportunities for 10,000 Ghanaians, including mechanics, engineers, and artisans. By empowering local assemblies with the necessary equipment and resources, we are fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility within our communities.
“The success of this programme depends on the collaborative efforts of all stakeholders. I urge our Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives to take full ownership of this initiative and adhere to the Operational Manual issued by supervising Ministries and key stakeholders.”
