Former Ghana assistant coach Herve Renard believes the European Championship is less competitive than the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Frenchman, a two-time AFCON winner, highlights the Euros’ predictability compared to the AFCON’s exciting upsets.
“The Euro is no less competitive than the Africa Cup of Nations,” Renard said, according to bsnsports.com.ng. “In the Euros, from the beginning you know at least four or five teams that can win the trophy, but in Africa, all the teams are capable of winning the trophy.”
Renard emphasises the passion and unpredictable nature of the AFCON. “You can be surprised by the results too. Big nations are often beaten by lesser ones. For me, AFCON has a lot of passion and is so interesting, with many shocks. Many people love it,” he added.
