The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of Media General, Beatrice Agyemang, has been presented with the citation and plaque she won at last weekend’s Africa Role Model Awards.
The 15th edition, held at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) on Saturday, July 6, saw the top female executive awarded the Overall Female Africa Role Model Personality of the Year.
Her citation read: “You broke free from the shackles pinning down women aspiring to climb higher on the corporate ladder and etched your name in Gold as the second female Group Chief Executive Officer of Media General, Ghana’s most popular privately-owned media stable.”
Presenting the award on Thursday, July 11, Founder of Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC) Dr Andy Osei Okrah congratulated Madam Beatrice Agyemang for breaking the glass ceiling for many young professional ladies.
He called for her citation to be read to her hearing.
Receiving the award and listening to her citation, Madam Beatrice Agyemang dedicated the honour to her team for the commitment in allowing her to provide the needed leadership.
“It takes a lot of hardwork to stay at the top,” she stressed, urging young executives to develop their soft skills.
“Soft skills is everything. To be able to manage a lot of people, you need soft skills. People have asked me how I have been able to manage a lot of women, young, ambitious, beautiful, intelligent women and men, it is because we lead by example for them to know that staying relevant demands hardwork.”
She pledged to contribute her quota to the legacy fund for youth education, entrepreneurship and empowerment set up by YPYC at the end of the 15th ARM Awards.
