Former Asante Kotoko captain and goalkeeper Ibrahim Danlad has penned a heartfelt message, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to represent the club.
Danlad, who has been an integral member of the Porcupine Warriors, leaves the club after eight years of service.
The 21-year-old shot-stopper, who joined the club in 2016, was among the 18 players released as part of a significant squad overhaul following an unimpressive season where Kotoko finished sixth in the Ghana Premier League.
In his farewell message, Danlad reflected on his journey with Asante Kotoko:
“An exciting journey comes to an end. It has been an honor playing for this great club for 8 years and contributing to winning the Premier League, FA Cup, President Cup, most of the domestic cups, as well as competing in CAF championships,” he stated on X.

Danlad’s departure marks the end of an era for the young goalkeeper, who has also had a distinguished international career. He has represented Ghana at the U17, U20, and U23 as well as the Black Galaxiies levels and was a member of the Black Stars squad at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

During the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Danlad made thirteen appearances for Kotoko. Despite his efforts, the last two seasons have been challenging, with Danlad spending much of his time on the bench as Frederick Asare took up the starting position.
The decision to offload Danlad and 17 other players signals Kotoko’s intent to regroup and plan ahead of the new season. The club is expected to make crucial signings to replace the departing players.
His journey with the Porcupine Warriors has left a lasting legacy, and he departs with the best wishes from the Kotoko community.
