Ameenu Shardow, the team manager of the Black Stars, has highlighted the critical significance of the Baba Yara Stadium passing the eligibility test to host CAF Confederation Cup games, particularly amidst Dreams FC’s remarkable campaign.
Dreams FC have utilised the stadium as their home venue throughout their Confederation Cup journey, raising concerns about its eligibility after the team secured a spot in the knockout stage.
However, following a thorough inspection, the stadium received clearance, allowing Dreams FC to play and progress to the semifinals.
Shardow who doubles as the general manager for Dreams emphasised the potential consequences if the stadium were deemed unfit for such high-profile matches, indicating that Dreams FC could face disqualification from playing there. Additionally, with a Black Stars game scheduled for June, the stadium’s readiness is of utmost importance.
“Mind you, if this stadium is not ready for the semi-finals, Dreams FC may be disqualified from playing here, and there is a Black Stars game scheduled for June.” Shardow told Akoma FM.
According to Shardow, the stadium’s approval to host CAF inter-club competitions bodes well for Ghana’s upcoming assignments, including the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

“So, if the only venue homologated on the CAF list of venues for international matches is rejected, Ghana will be unable to play its next international game in our homeland, and we all know what that means.” he added.
In June, the Black Stars are set to travel to Mali to take on the Eagles in the third round of the World Cup qualifiers before returning to Ghana to host the Central African Republic. As preparations intensify for these crucial fixtures, ensuring the readiness of the Baba Yara Stadium stands as a top priority for Ghanaian football authorities.
