Head of Corporate Affairs at the National Service Secretariat (NSS), Armstrong Esaah, has lauded the secretariat for introducing an online registration system called the NSS Metric App to enhance registration of prospective service personnel.
He has re-emphasised that the App, since its introduction, has removed over 14,000 ghost names as well as made registration smooth and simple, eradicating the situation where personnel had to queue for days at NSS district offices.
He says the Metric app has artificial intelligence security, which has precluded people from impersonating and saved Ghana millions of cedis.
The NSS Metric App was introduced in the 2021–2022 service year with the sole aim of speeding up the national service registration process as well as enhancing the elimination of impersonation.
During the registration, one has to complete an NSS form online and visit the district offices, where the app is used to scan the faces of prospective service personnel and match them with their Ghana cards for authentication and validation.
Armstrong Esaah, speaking in an interview on Onua FM’s Etifi Nsem Show on Saturday, April 20, extolled the Executive Director of the Scheme, Osei Assibey Antwi, and the management for introducing many of such schemes at NSS.
He explained that Ghana was on the verge of paying over GH 112 million in allowances to unqualified persons three years ago but the timely intervention of the Metric App and the management saved the situation.
”Without this app, these people would have gone through registration and paid a monthly service allowance, though they may not exist. They were blocked so they could not get the chance to even enter and get registered, he reiterated.

Mr. Esaah told Ekow J.B. (host of the show) that the NSS Metric App over the years has been robust and enhanced, making sure that the entire registration process is clean, free and fair.
He hinted at a far-fetched plan and partnership agreement documents the NSS management has prepared to enable the secretariat to deploy personnel to foreign countries for their national services.
He prayed that the Parliament of Ghana will expedite actions to pass the NSS policy for 2024–2034, which contains a comprehensive review of the operations of the National Service Scheme.
