The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) is pointing in the direction of the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) for the erratic power supply (dumsor) in some parts of the Greater Accra region.
The power distributor, in a statement dated Thursday, March 28, said the power outages experienced in the affected areas are a result of GRIDCo reducing power supply to the Pokuase bulk supply plant.
“The Electricity Company of Ghana Limited wishes to inform our cherished customers and the general public that the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has reduced power supply to our Pokuase Bulk Supply Point, resulting in outages in the following areas:
“Kwabenya, Agbogba, Mayera, Part of Teiman, Ayi Mensah, Katapor, Top Herbal, Bohye, Abloradjei, Pure Water, Pokuase Township, Fountain Gate, and surrounding areas,” it said.
“ECG wishes to assure all affected customers that once GRIDCo turns on supply, power will be restored. ECG regrets the inconvenience caused to the affected customers,” the statement concluded.
Meanwhile, an NPP stalwart, Gabriel Asare Otchere-Darko, has expressed concerns as to why the country is facing power outages at this time.
Mr. Otchere-Darko cannot fathom why the nation had a stable electricity supply even at the peak of the economic crisis two years ago and is experiencing outages now that a general election is looming.
