Broadcast journalist Beatrice Spio-Garbrah has applauded Media General for taking good care of its employees.
The ace journalist, in an interview with Akoma FM‘s Ama Serwaa, revealed that she wouldn’t like to be a journalist in her next life.
This shocking revelation was due to the fact that she said she has nothing to show after 20 years in the media landscape.
Beatrice believes that her journalism career started on a very low note and hence didn’t make much from it in terms of monetary gains.
She outlined that her only achievements after 20 years in journalism have been helping individuals in need and other marginalized groups in society.
Putting these humanitarian works aside, she said she has nothing to show for after two decades in the industry.
“I will never become a journalist in my next life, I have nothing to show for, no house, and no huge cash in my bank account,” she said.
Despite her woes, Beatrice has applauded the management of Media General for supporting its employees and giving them better working conditions.
She explains that Media General really helped her comfortably, working as a journalist and provided whatever she needed to make her work effective.
She recounts how many organization cut off many of their employees during the lockdown, yet, management of Media General kept all employees and paid all salaries on time.
Beatrice believes that if she had started her journalism career at Media General, she would have done well for herself.
“I didn’t start my journalism career at the right place, because, after twenty years in the industry, those who started from the right place would have something to show for their hard work, but that wasn’t the case for me. Media General has treated me really well, and I believe if I had started right from here, I would have done a lot better,” she concluded.
