Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has announced that new reforms will soon be implemented to improve transparency and revenue generation at the National Sports Authority (NSA).
Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee, the Minister disclosed that a new board will be inaugurated to oversee the effective rollout of an electronic ticketing system for sports events across the country.
The move, he said, is aimed at curbing revenue losses caused by manual ticketing.
“There are a number of steps that we are also introducing. When we improve networking, ticketing to our stadia during games will no longer be 100% manual,” Adams explained.
“You see the numbers at the stadium, but when it comes to accounting for the money, less is presented. So we want to do some e-ticketing. That brings about a lot more transparency.”
He stressed that the ministry is determined to ensure all NSA-generated funds comply with Ghana’s financial regulations.
“When the money gets into the coffers, its use must follow standard accounting procedures and the Financial Regulations Act. You can’t just take and spend anyhow,” he said.
Adams added that the soon-to-be-inaugurated NSA board will enhance oversight, accountability, and operational efficiency, ensuring public funds are managed responsibly and transparently within the sports sector.
