English-Ghanaian forward Tyrique George scored in Chelsea’s dramatic 4-3 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux Stadium, lighting up the EFL Cup Round 4 tie on Wednesday evening.
George, whose quick movement and skill were evident throughout, found the net in the 15th minute after a clever assist from Jamie Gittens, doubling Chelsea’s early lead and setting the tempo for the match.
Chelsea exerted early control with Andrey Santos opening the scoring after just five minutes, before George capitalized on loose defending to tap in the second. The visitors were ruthless, scoring three goals from three shots on target as Estevao chipped in a third, seemingly putting the tie beyond Wolves’ reach before halftime.
After the break, Wolves sparked a revival as Tolu Arokodare finished off a sharp counter, and David Møller Wolfe’s clinical strike electrified the home crowd. The drama peaked as Liam Delap saw red for two bookings, but Chelsea’s Jamie Gittens restored the cushion with a superb effort. Wolves refused to quit, with Wolfe scoring again in stoppage time, but Chelsea’s first-half dominance, spearheaded by George’s goal, set the decisive tone for a pulsating cup clash
