Substitute Clinton Kumi came off the bench to score twice in the closing stages as Samartex defeated Hohoe United 2-0 at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The game had been evenly contested for much of the afternoon, with both sides struggling to create clear chances. Head coach Christopher Ennin’s decision to introduce Kumi in the 70th minute proved decisive, as the forward brought renewed energy and sharpness to Samartex’s attack.
With just three minutes of regulation time remaining, Kumi broke the deadlock with a smart close-range finish that sent the home fans into celebration. He then sealed victory in the 90th minute, reacting quickest inside the box to double the advantage and secure all three points.
The win extends Samartex’s unbeaten run and lifts them to fourth place on the league table, continuing their impressive start to the season. Hohoe United, meanwhile, remain 10th, still searching for consistency away from home.
