Austria-born Ghanaian defender, Samson Baidoo, has opened up on his relationship with Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Danso and how he influenced his decision to join RC Lens.
Danso, who joined the English outfit on a permanent deal in the summer transfer window, spent four years with Lens, helping them return to the UEFA Champions League for the first team in 20 years. He, however, spent last season on loan at Spurs before making a permanent switch.
Following his departure, the Ligue 1 outfit signed compatriot Baidoo, who disclosed that he was convinced to make the move by Danso.
"I spoke to him before coming. And Danso only told me good things about Lens, especially that if I want to focus only on football, this is where I need to be. He has changed here as a person, as a player. He gave me a lot of confidence," he told l'Equipe.
Baidoo scored his first goal for Lens in the 2-1 win over Paris FC last week and he is expected to start in the match against Marseille.
The former Red Bull Salzburg player admits he shares similarities with Danso and calls him big brother.
"Yes, we play in the middle of a three-man defense, he's a monster, a machine on high balls. He's fast, we have things in common, I'm like his little brother," he said.
Despite being born in Graz, Austria, Baidoo remains eligible to play for Ghana's Black Stars.
