Hearts of Oak maintained their unbeaten start to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season after battling to a goalless draw with Bechem United at the Nana Gyeabour Park on Friday afternoon.
The Hunters extended their winless run to four games but will feel disappointed not to have taken all three points. They edged possession with 52 percent of the ball and created the better openings, forcing Benjamin Asare into three key saves. Augustine Okrah dictated play in midfield, while Kofi Tompuo caused problems with his direct running, but Bechem’s finishing lacked precision.
The Phobians, who had just 48 percent possession, showed greater control in the first half yet failed to create enough clear chances to test the home side. Despite registering seven attempts in total, only two were on target. Bechem matched that tally of seven shots, but with three on target, they were the more threatening side in the final third.
Set pieces also highlighted Bechem’s dominance in attack. They won six corners, compared to none for Hearts of Oak, underlining the pressure they applied in the latter stages. Both sides were disciplined but physical, with Bechem collecting two yellow cards and Hearts one.
For Hearts of Oak, the result secures a fourth consecutive clean sheet, a sign of defensive organisation under coach Didi Dramani, but they may feel it was an opportunity lost after controlling large spells of the first half. Bechem, meanwhile, will take encouragement from their performance but remain frustrated as they continue to search for a first win of the season.
