Heart of Lions coach Bashir Hayford insists his side will approach their clash against Asante Kotoko without fear as they put their perfect start to the Ghana Premier League season on the line.
Lions travel to the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday as league leaders after winning all three of their opening fixtures.
Hayford, however, is confident his players are ready to meet the challenge posed by Kotoko, who return to domestic duty buoyed by successive CAF Confederation Cup victories over Kwara United.
“What we are doing is that we are preparing normally and making sure that the players get their confidence. If they get their confidence, what is in them, they will bring it out,” Hayford said.
“Whether today or tomorrow, we are playing them, so it doesn’t put fear in anybody. It’s a normal approach.”
The fixture brings added intrigue with Hayford, a former Kotoko boss who guided the Porcupine Warriors to the 2008 title, leading the Lions alongside assistant Daniel Nii Adjei, a Kotoko legend.
Lions have dominated recent meetings, winning four of the last six, with Kotoko’s last victory dating back to 2015.
Sunday’s clash promises to be one of the standout fixtures of Matchday 4.
