Mohammed Kudus has lifted the lid on the intensity and demands placed on Tottenham Hotspur players by manager Thomas Frank, describing him as both exacting and transformative.
The Ghanaian midfielder, who joined Spurs in a £55 million move from West Ham this summer, highlighted Frank’s insistence on high standards in both attack and defence.
"He’s a very demanding coach, offensively and defensively," Kudus told Sports Illustrated. "One of my major attributes is getting the ball one-v-one and taking players on. The team try to put me in positions to do that which helps a lot. Just try to create as much as I can, but defensively as always he expects a lot, of course."
Kudus revealed that Frank’s philosophy extends far beyond creativity, with Tottenham embracing an aggressive pressing style regardless of the opposition. “We press high, whichever opposition we play,” he explained.
"We press really, really high and that comes with a lot of running demands and high, interesting movements as well. The demand from him is very high, but it really, really helps the team and you can see that from some of the games already."
The midfielder’s early impact has already shown the benefits of Frank’s demanding approach, with Spurs enjoying a strong start to the season.
