Ansgar Knauff is set to take center stage for Eintracht Frankfurt as the club heads into Champions League action.
The 23-year-old German-Ghanaian winger has been waiting for his chance to shine, and his coach believes this could be the moment.
Head coach Dino Toppmoller made it clear in Wednesday’s press conference that Knauff is central to his plans.
"Ansgar definitely plays a very important role in the planning for tomorrow's game," he said.
"Because he also has a certain amount of experience in games like this, and we also have the feeling that he can excel in such games."
Knauff has already shown his ability to rise to the occasion in Europe.
"He's simply there for those special moments. He proved that in the Europa League season, when SGE won the cup. But also last season against Ajax, for example," Toppmoller explained.
The coach left little doubt about Knauff’s chances of starting.
"We have the impression that he is capable of delivering a brutal performance on the pitch and that is why he is a candidate for the starting eleven,"
