Société Générale Ghana, in collaboration with technology partners TECHAiDE and SolTedd Energy, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art digital library powered by solar energy for the Osu Presbyterian Cluster of Schools.
The initiative reflects a powerful fusion of education, technology, and sustainability aimed at improving access to learning resources for school children while promoting green energy solutions.
At a ceremony held on the school premises, Managing Director of Société Générale Ghana, Mr. Ouzzani Hakim, highlighted the importance of the project, stating:
“This project is very special to us. It combines education, technology, and sustainability in a way that reflects our values as a bank. Education is the foundation of every community, and by launching this digital library, we are giving young people the opportunity to enlighten their minds and create a future full of possibilities.”
Mr. Hakim reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) goals, adding that the use of solar energy for the library demonstrates their dedication to sustainable development.
“To all the young people who will be using this library – read vastly, research widely, and dream boldly. The world is your oyster,” he encouraged.
TECHAiDE, the tech implementing partner for the project, emphasized the educational innovation behind the digital lab. Speaking on behalf of the organization, a representative shared:
“This digital library is fully integrated with our Asanka device – a tool designed to deliver rich educational content offline. It empowers both teachers and students by enhancing teaching and learning and providing valuable data to track academic progress.”
The Asanka system enables interactive, data-driven instruction and facilitates targeted academic interventions for students who may need additional support.
SolTedd Energy, the renewable energy partner for the project, commissioned the solar power system that will provide uninterrupted electricity to the facility. A representative from SolTedd Energy expressed:
“Access to clean, reliable, and sustainable energy is a right — not a privilege. This system will reduce operational costs for the school, ensure continuous learning, and contribute to environmental sustainability by offsetting carbon emissions.”
The solar installation, complete with battery storage, is a significant step toward energy independence and cost efficiency for the school.
Together, Société Générale Ghana, TECHAiDE, and SolTedd Energy have set a benchmark in collaborative impact, proving that public-private partnerships can drive meaningful change in education and sustainability.
