The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed the disbursement of a record GHS 1 million to each of the 18 Ghana Premier League (GPL) clubs, fulfilling a landmark commitment under its new broadcast partnership with Adesa Productions Limited.
The payment, announced by GFA President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku during the unveiling of Adesa as the league’s broadcast rights holder on July 31, 2025, is a key step in strengthening the financial stability of Ghana’s top-flight clubs.
“Through this unique partnership with Adesa Productions, each one of our GPL clubs will, before the start of the league season, receive the amount of a million Ghana cedis each. This will be our minimum payment for each of our GPL clubs under our new model,” President Kurt Okraku announced back in July
This unprecedented financial support is intended to enhance club operations, improve player welfare, and raise the league’s overall competitiveness.
To complement the cash injection, the GFA has also provided 30 footballs and 30 pairs of boots to every GPL clubâa total of 540 footballs and 540 pairs of boots across the league. These provisions ensure players are fully equipped for the upcoming season and help maintain high training and matchday standards.
The initiative forms part of the GFA’s broader strategy to professionalise the league, create sustainable revenue streams, and elevate the GPL’s global profile. A robust commercialisation plan, developed with Adesa Productions, is designed to maximise sponsorship opportunities, enhance marketing efforts, and boost both matchday and broadcast revenues.
Through this multi-faceted approach, the GFA aims to position the Ghana Premier League as a competitive, sustainable, and internationally marketable competition, setting a new benchmark for football development in the country.
