Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has hailed his Leicester City teammates after leaving Kassam Stadium with a point despite playing most of the game against Oxford United with a man down.
Aaron Ramsey was sent off in the first half as Leicester City battled to secure a valuable point following a second half equalizer from Ricardo Pareira.
Oxford opened the scoring early in the match through Will Lankshear but Ayew responded with his first of the campaign four minutes later.
Just before half time, the hosts restored the lead from an own goal by Boubakary Soumare.
“It’s difficult to analyse now but we got a point,” Ayew said afterwards. “The boys stuck to it, we ground it out, we got a result. It will be a point that will be important for the future as well, so we’ll take it and onto the next game.
“We were disappointed [to go a man down] because we wanted to get the three points. Listen, when you look at the scenario of the game, I think a point is good. We’ll take it and we’ll move on.
“The season is long, there’s still 40 or so games, so we’ll move on. In terms of performances, I think we did well. We played some good football, especially in the second half. We dominated the game. We could have scored more, but it is what it is. We’ll take the point and onto the next one.”
The Foxes will welcome Coventry at home in their next match at the King Power Stadium.
