Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko says his side’s 2-0 victory over Young Apostles in Wenchi was the product of meticulous preparation rather than luck.
The Yellow and Mauves opened their 2025/26 Ghana Premier League campaign with a solid away performance, becoming one of only six teams to secure three points on the opening weekend.
Speaking to the club’s media after the game, Tanko described the fixture as a “50-50” contest but credited a robust pre-season for laying the foundation for the win.
“I think we did what is most important. We had a very good preseason⦠definitely this performance here is not by mistake, it’s what we worked for. I hope that it will continue,” he said.
Medeama, who finished eighth in last season’s standings after recording 15 wins, five draws and 14 defeats, looked sharper and more cohesive in Dormaa.
They were also the only side to record a two-goal winning margin in the opening round of fixtures, signalling a potential turnaround from last season’s inconsistency.
Tanko, in his first full season at the helm, said the team’s focus now is to build momentum from this strong start.
