Goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has reached a century of appearances in the Ghana Premier League after featuring in Hearts of Oak's goalless stalemate against Hohoe United on the opening day.
Asare, Ghana's first-choice goalkeeper, celebrated the moment with another spectacular performance, keeping a clean sheet in his first game of the 2025/26 season.
The 33-year-old made 72 appearances for Great Olympics before joining Hearts of Oak last season, where he featured 27 times in the Premier League. Last Friday was his 28th appearance in the league for Hearts as he reached the new milestone.
In 100 games in the Ghanaian top division, Asare has kept 50 clean sheets and conceded 72 goals.
The players, technical team and staff of the Accra-based club celebrated the goalkeeper after training on Monday morning.
"I thank God for making 100 appearances in the Ghana Premier League. I always thank the leaders of the club and the people who keep supporting Ghana football. It's not an easy journey and not everybody gets the opportunity to reach this mark," said Asare.
"I thank everybody for their support and encouragement. I will also keep striving to give my best to the club," he added.
Heart of Oak will travel to Tuba to face Dreams FC in their next game.
