Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has admitted AFC Bournemouth’s 2-1 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion was far from glamorous, but insists the result was what mattered most.
The Cherries edged the Seagulls at the Vitality Stadium over the weekend, with Semenyo netting the decisive strike to take his tally to three goals in just four Premier League outings this season.
Reflecting on the performance, the 24-year-old conceded the team fell short of their usual standards.
“It wasn’t us at our best, and like I said, it was pretty ugly!," he said.
“The manager said it might go this way – it did, and we found a way to win. It’s a really good side to show in our game,” Semenyo added.
Bournemouth will look to build on that result when they welcome Newcastle United to the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, September 21, with kick-off set for 13:00 GMT.
