Accra is set to host the continent’s leading renewable energy investment forum next month, bringing together key players shaping Africa’s clean energy future.
The Renewable Energy Forum Africa (REFA) 2025 will take place at the Mövenpick Hotel on December 3-4, featuring the Energy Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor as opening keynote speaker.
The event is backed by a coalition of international and local partners. It enjoys strong support from GET.invest, a major European program funded by the European Union, Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Austria.
The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) is also a key strategic partner, alongside the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI)
This united front underscores a shared commitment to accelerating renewable energy adoption across the continent. The two-day forum will serve as a crucial platform for investors, project developers, government policymakers, and energy utilities to connect. This marks REFA’s first West African edition after previous successful forums in Cape Town and Nairobi.

Tsonam Akpeloo, Accra Regional Chairman of AGI, highlighted the forum’s importance. “We recognise the critical role renewable energy plays in driving the nation’s economic growth and enhancing energy security”, he said added that the partnership aims to drive investments and accelerate the country’s transition to a sustainable energy future.

The event comes at a significant time for its renewable energy sector. It will showcase major achievements, including Africa’s largest solar rooftop installation in the Tema industrial area and the continent’s biggest floating solar project at the Bui Dam.
The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition is driving an ambitious reform agenda. Key initiatives that will be highlighted at the forum include a massive 4,000 solar rooftops program, a plan to electrify 150 off-grid communities with mini-grids, and a new 100 MW utility-scale solar tender for investors.
Beyond high-level discussions, the forum will feature structured matchmaking sessions to facilitate business deals, expert panels on various green technologies, and the prestigious AFSIA Awards ceremony honoring the best players in the African solar and storage industry.

Registration for the forum is now open, offering stakeholders a chance to secure investment, discover new projects, and launch innovations to a pan-African audience.
