A clash between local police and students of Sandema Senior High and Technical School in the Upper East Region, has left a student dead.
Joy News correspondent, Albert Sore reports that another student is currently unconscious.
The police were called into the school to calm a riot after a section of the students protested alleged maltreatment from the school’s cadet corps.
The law enforcers upon their arrival reportedly fired warning shots to dispel the rioting students who pelted them with stones.
It is believed the deceased student was hit by a stray bullet from the police. It is yet unclear what caused the injuries of the student who is unconscious.
The school has been closed down indefinitely and students have since been packing out.
The Chief Executive for Builsa North District, David Afoko has been locked up in a Security Council meeting following the incident.
The DCE is yet to go on record following the fatality.
