The Atlas Cubs took the lead in the 29th minute when Ziyad Baha brilliantly headed home a precise free-kick from Moncef Zekri. The first half ended with dramatic twists. In 45 6’, Mali equalised via a penalty converted by Ndjicoura Bomba, only for Morocco to regain the lead five minutes later through Ismail El Aoud, who scored from another Zekri set piece in 45 11’.
Morocco extended their advantage in the 66th minute when Alaoud finished superbly from the edge of the box, making it 3-1. Mali fought back in 90 4’ with Seydou Dembele scoring a late consolation goal, but Morocco held on for a memorable win.
