All Saints Anglican Model Basic School was last Friday declared the overall champion of this year’s Korle Klottey Municipal Constitutional Quiz competition, which was organised by the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to enhance constitutional awareness, civic responsibility, and patriotism among the youth.
After a series of closely contested rounds, All Saints Anglican Model Basic School achieved the highest score of 42 points, which earned them the prestigious trophy along with a selection of prizes.
Virgo Preparatory School secured the second position with 32 points, while Gray Memorial Basic School came in third with 31 points. Osu Presbyterian Girls’ School finished in fourth place and, similar to the second and third place schools, received appealing packages in acknowledgment of their efforts.
This competition was part of the events organised by the NCCE to celebrate Ghana’s 68th Independence anniversary.
Speaking at the event, the Municipal Director of the NCCE for Korle Klottey Municipal Assembly, Mr Jonathan E. Nii Adjiri Sackey, commended the schools for their impressive performance and level of preparation.
He noted that although the competition was originally scheduled for the second quarter of the year during the annual Constitution and Citizenship Week, it was rescheduled to coincide with Independence celebrations to highlight the importance of constitutional awareness in Ghana’s democratic journey.
Mr Sackey emphasised that civic education delivered in engaging and interactive ways such as quizzes was critical in instilling patriotism, deepening understanding of national values, and encouraging active citizenship.
“The quiz platform not only enhances students’ knowledge of the Constitution but also fosters teamwork, healthy competition, and civic consciousness among the youth,” he added.
The Deputy Regional Director of the NCCE, Mrs Gloria A. Kindo, urged students to take their civic obligations seriously as they prepare to assume leadership roles in the future.
She described the quiz not merely as a contest but as “a stepping stone to nurturing responsible leadership.”
According to her, teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition are qualities that must guide Ghana’s next generation of leaders.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mr Philip Aidoo, also encouraged students to embrace the study of the 1992 Constitution, describing it as the bedrock of responsible citizens, and urged them to spread knowledge of rights and responsibilities among their peers.
“By understanding the Constitution, the youth will be better prepared to build a peaceful and progressive nation for future generations,” he stressed.
The event ended with cheers and celebrations as All Saints Anglican Model Basic School lifted the trophy, while other participating schools pledged to work harder towards future editions of the competition.
