Plan International Ghana has presented assorted farm equipment to women groups to economically empower them to improve their farm produce and promote economic growth.
The items include motor king (tricycle), grinding mill, sprayers, packaging materials, honey varieties, Wellington boots, threshers, soya planters, soya and snail dryers, poly tanks (Rambo 400) and gas cylinders.
At a short ceremony here in Tamale to hand over the items to the beneficiaries, the Northern Regional Programmes Influencing and Impact Area Manager, Mr Sulemana Gbana, said the “WISE Project” was part of their visionary initiative to work tirelessly in collaboration with their partners and public stakeholders to realise the goals of the project.
He said the presentation of the items was a testament to their collective efforts and commitment to improving women’s agency and economic empowerment in the country.
“The WISE Project has directly benefited 12,641 women with 4,046 receiving targeted support for agriculture and green businesses,” he stated.
Mr Gbana said they had witnessed incredible growth in productivity, profitability and innovation among women-owned businesses.
He said their hard work, determination and unwavering spirit had been the driving force behind the successes of the projects.
Mr Gbana stated that, the items given to them were not just tools, but rather a symbol of potentials to bright the future that lies ahead of them to continue to innovate, grow and lead to remember that they were shaping more inclusive and prosperous communities for everyone.
He said women in rural communities played a very critical role in the development of agriculture in their various communities.
Mr Gbana, however, appealed to them to take good care of the equipment for others to also benefit from their outfit.
Madam Adam Gift thanked Plan International Ghana for coming to their aid to support them with the equipment to enhance their farm activities and businesses.
She said they would do everything possible to ensure that the equipment were put to proper use.
