The Bargabaseh brothers – Japhet and Lamech, recorded mixed emotions on Monday when the Top 16 Interplast Invitational tennis championship kicked off at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club (ALTC).
Lameck opened his campaign with a 9-7 opening day defeat to Felix Hammond before Japhet stormed the court to beat Bernard Ashitey Armaah 9-8(2).
Nicholas Kumadey defeated Constantin Minkner 9-5 while Abubakar Yakubu Lea gave a good account of himself with a 9-4 win over Charles Asomani.
In other morning session matches, Caleb Aryettey also defeated Samuel Nyamekye 9-8 (8), Reginald Okanted beats Isaac Dapaah 9-4 while Benjamin Palm won 9-3 against David Oringa.
In the afternoon session, Samuel Nyamekye defeated Felix Hammond 9-5 while Desmond Ayaaba showed class against Charles Asomani who he defeated 9-1.
Johnson Acquah and Richmond Armaah entertained fans with a great game that ended 9-5 in favour of the former, while Lamech Bargabaseh suffered his second defeat of the tournament after losing 9-5 to Emmanuel Antwi.
Benjamin Palm was on the winning side against Reginald Okantey with a 9- feat, while David Oringa pulled his first win with a 9-7 win over Pascal Ziyab; Bernard Ashitey Armaah defeats Constantin Minkner 9-7 with Ronald Totimeh beating Nicholas Kumadey 9-4.
In yesterday’s morning session games, Abubakar Lea defeated Desmond Ayaaba 9-5 with the Bargabaseh brothers ending on the winning side – Japhet defeating Constantin Minker 9-1 and Lamech defeating Caleb Aryettey 9-8(8).
In other matches Emmanuel Antwi won 9-7 against Felix Hammond, Richmon Armaah won 9-7 against Charles Asomani, Reginald Okantey had a walk over Pascal Ziyah, Benjamin Palm beat Isaac Dapaah 9-2 while BernardAshitey Armaah beat Ronald Totimeh.
