Hundreds of children participated in the second edition of the Diplomatic Ball tennis tournament that ended over the weekend at the Accra Lawn Tennis Club.
The children competed in boys and girls U-14 and U-16.
Held annually under the patronage of Ambassador Sena Siaw-Boateng, former Ambassador to Belgium and European Union, the tournament seeks to encourage the youth to participate actively and appreciate the skills of tennis.
It also sought to instil in the youth leadership skills, capacity to settle conflicts, negotiate and team building.
This year’s edition attracted high profile personalities including Madam Grace Mason, the South African High Commissioner, diplomats from the American and European embassies as well as some experienced tennis enthusiasts including Peter Annan (Grandmaster).
The youngsters apart from the competition were also given some tennis drills and a coaching clinic conducted by Peter Annan.
They also enjoyed a mentoring session by some selected members of the Diplomatic Corps.
Emmanuel Adumuah beats Desmond Amartey 6-2 to win the boys U-16 prize with Helena Hammond winning the girls version with 6-3 feat over Georgette Nortey.
