Over 17,000 Certified Electricians have since the inception of Certification, been certified by the Energy Commission throughout the country, Mr. Fred Agyei-Brobbey, Senior Officer, Electrical Wiring of the Commission in Kumasi has stated.

He disclosed this at the 22nd Electrical Wiring Graduation Ceremony at Kumasi Prempeh Assembly Hall, where about 233 licensed electricians, including 14 females, who took the November-December 2024 examinations graduated.
Speaking on the theme: “Using Technology to Advance Electrical Wiring”, he noted that applying for Service Connection can now be done in the comfort of one’s home on the internet, the same way a certified electrician can come to one’s house or facility to work.
He indicated that without a certified electrician or inspector working on a facility, ECG cannot connect service.

Mr. Ntelenyi Bilenman, Customer Service Officer, Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), in the keynote address stated that Electrical Safety and Compliance is a Fundamental responsibility.
According to him, the work of electricians is far more than just connecting wires or installing circuits as well as ensuring the safety of lives and properties.
He stressed that Electrical safety is not just a rule, it is a vital practice that ensures the well-being of everyone who interacts with their work.
He indicated that their responsibility is even greater, as they are tasked with integrating cutting-edge technology to make the world safer.
He said one of the ways for this technology is through the Installation Completion Certificate (Mobile) Application or ICCApp, a game-changing tool designed to enhance compliance and safety.
Mr. Ntelenyi noted that technology empowered electrical professionals to submit real-time, certified completion reports via mobile devices, making the process smoother, more transparent, and far more efficient.
He disclosed that currently, electrical safety and compliance work rely largely on paperwork, manual inspections and time-consuming processes that leave room for errors and delay results.

He said ICCApp, however, is transforming that by automating the certification process and ensuring that all installations meet regulatory standards in real time.
According to him, with ICCApp, one has the ability to instantly generate and submit compliance certificates for their electrical installations directly from their mobile device.
He reiterated that the innovation does not only reduce the risk of human errors, but also enables quicker response, making it easier for regulatory bodies such as Energy Commission to verify one’s work and ensuring that electrical systems are safe and reliable from the moment they are completed.
He urged the industry players to prevent electrical hazards before they occur through compliance and certification, which are key to protecting lives and properties.
He indicated that with ICCApp, they are enhancing their ability to prevent, detect, and correct issues before they escalate into dangerous situations.
Mr. Ntelenyi reminded the graduates that the Future of Electrical Safety, the future of electrical wiring and safety is in their hands, with the tools at their disposal, including mobile applications like ICCApp, they have the power to create safer environments not just for today, but for generations to come.
He stressed that by embracing technology, one is not only enhancing safety, but also paving the way for more sustainable and efficient electrical systems that will serve Ghana’s growing demand for electricity.
He reminded the graduates that as they take their next step into the field of work, compliance and safety are not just about following laws; they are about protecting those who trust them with their homes, businesses and lives.
He said Technology will continue to advance and as professionals, it is essential that they remain adaptable, diligent and committed to upholding the highest standards of safety.
Mr. Ntelenyi Bilenman urged them to embrace the opportunities that the new technology offers, but not lose sight of the core values that make them professionals -integrity, excellence and a commitment to safety.
