The John Dramani Mahama government is not yielding on its quest to force the Member of Parliament for Assin South in the Central Region, Rev John Ntim Fordjour, to produce the evidence to back the cocaine and money laundering allegations he has made against the government.
According to the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the MP will be arrested by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) if he tries to evade the probe.
The Minister for government communication spoke on Eyewitness News, on Citi FM, where he disclosed plans of the government to get the MP to produce evidence to back his claims.
“If he says he was not invited, it is not true. The NIB has written to the Speaker and asked for his release for investigation. He will definitely go. If he doesn’t, they will arrest him, and when he does, he should present the stories he is telling,” Kwakye Ofosu remarked.
DEBUNK
Following the directive by President Mahama that the allegations made by the opposition MP be investigated, the government’s communications machinery have been activated, releasing videos and pictures about the two planes parked on the tarmac of KIA and making certain statements to debunk the allegations.
In punching holes into the claims, Kwakye Ofosu condemned what he termed as lies told by his colleague MP, who is the ranking member on the Defence and the Interior Committee of Parliament.
In the interview with Citi FM,the Minister for Government Communications went hard on the Assin South MP, saying “the last thing an MP should be doing is peddling such childish lies. They are not just lies; they are childish. How do you claim such things without providing a shred of evidence?”
Kwakye Ofosu further accused Ntim Fordjour of engaging in “childish propaganda and lies that do not make any sense”.
NOT INVITED
The MP has meanwhile firmly rejected claims made by the Minister for Government Communications that an invitation had been extended to him.
“No invitation has come to me. I have not received any invitation whatsoever, contrary to the lies and falsehoods peddled by Kwakye Ofosu that I had been invited and I am running away from collaboration. It is false,” he stated on multiple platforms.
AIRMED RESPONSE
One of the airlines in contention, Airmed N823AM, operated by Airmed International, had earlier replied to The Chronicle’s enquiries.
The Chronicle wrote to the airline to hear its side of the ongoing controversy and in response, the airline replied that, “On March 20, 2025, AirMed International aircraft N823AM departed the United States for a scheduled international patient transport. As part of the planned flight path, the aircraft made multiple stops for fuel, including a stop at Kotoka International Airport in Accra, Ghana.”
Their response to The Chronicle continued that, “Upon landing in Ghana, the aircraft experienced a maintenance issue: two blown tyres that required replacement. No patient was on board at the time. To address the mechanical issue, a second aircraft was dispatched with the necessary replacement parts, supplies, and two maintenance technicians.
“Over the next several days, repairs to aircraft N823AM were completed, and it returned to the U.S. on March 25, following standard protocols and the required rest period for the flight crew. On its return flight, N823AM made a planned fuel stop at Gran Canaria airport.
“We will fully cooperate in any official enquiries into N823AM’s presence in Ghana. We are confident that flight documentation and mission details will clearly demonstrate that the AirMed aircraft was not engaged in any illicit or illegal activities.”
Meanwhile, The Chronicle asked follow-up questions last Friday, but is yet to receive a response from the airline, though the earlier email got feedback in less than five hours.
