Dansoman Circuit Court has remanded 42-year-old Adamu Musah into police custody for allegedly stealing a sensor from a car at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH).
Musah, an unemployed resident of Zamrama Line, Dansoman, was arraigned before the court presided over by Her Honour Halimah El-Alawa Abdul-Baasit. He pleaded not guilty to stealing a sensor from a Honda CRV belonging to Grace Osae-Ntow, the Administrative Manager of the Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence at KBTH.
Following his plea, the court remanded him twice, on February 5 and 17, and he is expected to reappear on February 28.
Prosecution’s Case
Presenting the facts, Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder told the court that on January 2, 2025, Osae-Ntow reported to work and parked her ash-colored Honda CRV (GX 1166-19) at the hospital’s front car park. When she attempted to drive home at about 1:30 p.m., she noticed a red warning light on her dashboard, indicating a malfunction. Further checks revealed that a sensor and its cover, valued at GH¢4,400, had been removed.
On January 6, 2025, she reported the theft to hospital management, prompting a review of CCTV footage from the day of the incident. The footage, viewed in the presence of security guards Mohammed Muniru and Dinsin Gabriel, showed two young men approaching the vehicle. One sat on the bonnet and removed the sensor while the other kept watch.
On January 23, 2025, the same security guards spotted Musah at the hospital car park wearing the same red long-sleeved shirt seen in the CCTV footage. They arrested him and handed him over to the police.
During interrogation, Musah admitted to the theft in his caution statement and disclosed that he had sold the sensor to a man known as “Macho” at Kokomba for GHC 700. However, efforts to trace the buyer were unsuccessful.
After investigations, Musah was charged with stealing and brought before the court.
The case continues on February 28.
