Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has revealed the personal toll that poor results take on him, stating he doesn't sleep when the club loses.
The veteran coach has faced growing scrutiny following Kotoko’s elimination from the FA Cup at home to Aduana FC in the round of 16, a result that intensified calls for his dismissal.
Speaking to Akoma 87.9 FM, Zito admitted that disappointing results weigh heavily on him, affecting his rest and peace of mind.
The coach also acknowledged the sacrifices supporters make to watch the team, highlighting the responsibility he feels to perform for them.
“Any time we play and it doesn’t go well, I don’t even sleep. Nobody intentionally wants to fail, but at the end of the day, the team belongs to the fans and we need their support,” he said.
Zito’s remarks come ahead of one of the season’s most anticipated fixtures in Ghanaian football, as Kotoko and Hearts of Oak renew one of the country’s fiercest rivalries.
The Super Clash is expected to attract a full house at Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, with both sides eager to claim bragging rights and momentum in the league.
With 13 league matches remaining, Kotoko sit fifth on the Ghana Premier League table, eight points behind leaders Medeama.
