New Black Queens defender Benedicte Simon brings an impressive resume to the Ghana national team, having built her career across some of Europe’s top clubs.
The 27-year-old, who joined the Black Queens camp ahead of the international friendly against England, walked the media through her football journey - one marked by ambition, resilience and elite-level experience.
Simon began her professional career at Stade de Reims in France, where her talent as a full-back quickly caught attention.
Her performances earned her a high-profile move to Paris Saint-Germain, where she spent three years competing at the highest level of women’s football.
After her spell in Paris, Simon took her career international with moves to two of Europe’s football giants - Juventus in Italy and Atletico Madrid in Spain.
She also featured for Valencia and Sassuolo, gaining experience in two of the strongest leagues in women’s football.
“I’ve played in many countries and at many clubs. Now I’m at Servette in Switzerland. I’m a right back, but I can also play on the left,” she said.
Her versatility, athleticism and tactical awareness have been key strengths throughout her career.
Simon describes herself as an explosive player capable of contributing both offensively and defensively.
Her arrival in camp marks a significant addition for the Black Queens, who are currently building a competitive team capable of returning to the global stage.
Simon’s wealth of experience, gathered from top-level European competition, is expected to elevate Ghana’s defensive structure as the team eyes long-term goals, including World Cup qualification.
