Ghanaian singer and songwriter, King Promise has named former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien as one of the best players to have featured for Chelsea.
In a five-a-side team selected by the award-wining Ghanaian artist, he included the former Ghanaian midfielder alongside Ivory Coast legend Didier Drogba, Petr Cech, John Terry and Eden Hazard.
He disclosed this while at the Stamford Bridge creating content for the launch of his upcoming song Bad Habits featuring Davido, which is set to be released on Friday 21 November,
“That’s crazy! The goalkeeper is Petr Cech, so that leaves me with four players. I will pick one in defence, two in the midfield and one striker. The defender will definitely be my captain JT. In the midfield Michael Essien, of course, then Eden Hazard. Then up front Didier Drogba”
Meanwhile, King Promise has also shed light on watching games at the Stamford Bridge.
“The very first time I came to Stamford Bridge was to watch Chelsea against Arsenal, that was crazy. I’ve been to quite a few games now. On match-day everyone’s going crazy, and there’s just an aura around the stadium. The feeling is ecstatic to be here on a matchday, seeing the players in action, seeing the fans in full force. It’s amazing” he told Chelsea’s media.
The former Black Stars midfielder, who currently serve as an assistant coach to Danish outfit FC Nordjaelland left an indelible mark as Chelsea, helping the club to annex the UEFA Champions League title and other several domestic trophies.
Essien joined the Premier league giants in 2005 for 24.4 million pounds transfer fee and established himself as a key member of the team before his departure in 2014.
