Former Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Philemon McCarthy has called on head coach Didi Dramani to balance player development with consistent results if he hopes to succeed at the club.
In an interview with ghanasportspage.com, McCarthy praised Dramani’s long-term vision of building a youthful and dynamic squad but warned that Hearts fans demand immediate success.
“Hearts of Oak are always hungry for trophies. They’ve gone four years without winning the league. The fans don’t have patience for development,” McCarthy stated.
He said Dramani must quickly win matches or convince supporters that his project will lead to lasting success.
The former goalkeeper compared Dramani’s situation to that of the late Sir Cecil Jones Attuquayefio, who endured early criticism before building a dominant team that conquered Africa.
“If he will succeed, he needs to get good results or make the fans see the vision and the prospect that the future will be better,” he added.
“Even Cecil Attuquayefio didn’t have it easy when he was developing his young players who became a winning team."
Hearts of Oak are currently fourth on the Premier League table after nine games, having won four, drawn four, and lost one under Dramani’s leadership.
