South Africa forward Lyle Foster has called on Bafana Bafana supporters to maintain hope as the national team faces a crucial World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on Tuesday.
With South Africa needing a victory over Rwanda and hoping for Nigeria to defeat Benin to secure qualification, Foster emphasised there's still everything to play for despite recent setbacks.
"No reason to feel despondent," Foster stated. "If there's nothing to play for or there's no chance, I'd understand. There's still so much to play for, so there's no reason at all to be despondent."
The Burnley striker also appealed for strong fan support ahead of the decisive match, saying, "I think this is probably the most important one, so we ask the supporters to come out in their numbers."
South Africa's qualification hopes were dealt a significant blow when FIFA deducted three points and three goals for fielding an ineligible player against Lesotho, compounding the frustration of their recent goalless draw with Zimbabwe that left their World Cup fate hanging in the balance.
