Minister of Youth and Sports, Kofi Iddie Adams, has assured that efforts are underway to clear the outstanding bonuses owed to the Black Queens following their campaign at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Black Queens secured a bronze medal in Morocco after defeating South Africa on penalties in the third-place playoff in July. However, the players are yet to receive their full bonuses, sparking concern ahead of their upcoming 2026 WAFCON qualifier against Egypt later this month.
Speaking to Joy News, Kofi Adams confirmed that the issue is being addressed.
"Their last bonus has not been paid, not all their bonuses,” he said. “It’s in the process of being worked on. They are not the only ones. Even the U-20 boys have not received their package.”
Ghana will face Egypt in the final round of qualifiers later this month as they aim to book a place at next year’s tournament, which also serves as a qualifier for the Women’s World Cup.
There is also a high-profile friendly against England scheduled for December in Southampton.
