Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has praised his players for showing a renewed sense of purpose in their 2-0 victory over Bibiani GoldStars in an outstanding Ghana Premier League fixture at the Baba Yara Stadium on Wednesday.
The win handed defending champions GoldStars their first defeat of the 2025â26 campaign, ending their perfect start after two straight victories.
Kotoko, meanwhile, extended their unbeaten run to three matches and secured their second win of the season in dominant fashion.
In his post-match remarks, Zito credited his players’ intensity and discipline for what he described as the emergence of a “new Kotoko.”
“You’ve seen a different Kotoko today with different attitude. What I told themâthe playersâwas to go on the attack and make sure no goal is conceded,” he said.
The coach also expressed satisfaction with his team’s home performances so far, highlighting the importance of maintaining momentum in upcoming away fixtures.
“We’ve played two matches at home, we won one, we drew one. It’s not bad but we are going to fight in the away games and get points to replace the two we lost here,” Zito added.
Kotoko will next face Nations FC in the Kumasi Derby on October 11, as they continue their pursuit of consistency and silverware under their new manager.
