Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, says qualifying for a fifth FIFA World Cup would be a monumental achievement for the Black Stars and the nation at large.
Ghana moved a step closer to that goal on Wednesday after thrashing the Central African Republic 5-0 in Morocco.
Goals from Mohammed Salisu, Thomas Partey, Alexander Djiku, Jordan Ayew, and Kamaldeen Sulemana secured a dominant victory for the four-time African champions.
The result places Ghana at the summit of Group I with 22 points, meaning the team needs just a single point from their final fixture to book a spot at the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Speaking on Woezor TV, Asante Twum highlighted the significance of the potential qualification, noting the commitment of both players and the technical team.
"The players and the technical team are determined to qualify for the World Cup, and qualifying for the World Cup for the fifth time is a huge achievement for the country and the team," he said.
The Black Stars will wrap up their qualifying campaign against Comoros on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 19:00 GMT.
