Sports Minister Kofi Adams has described Black Stars coach Otto Addo as "lucky" while expressing concerns about his performance, despite Ghana being on the verge of World Cup qualification.
Speaking in a television interview, the Buem MP acknowledged Addo's role in leading Ghana to within one point of World Cup qualification but revealed he's not entirely satisfied with the coach's decisions.
"Well, he has been lucky, but there are still concerns," Adams stated, explaining that Addo himself has frequently admitted to questionable tactical choices during their meetings.
The minister declined to question Addo's competence directly, noting, "I'm not a coach," and emphasising that such judgements should be left to football experts. He also clarified that the decision on whether Addo stays or goes rests with the Ghana Football Association, not his ministry.
Adams admitted that watching the Black Stars has been nerve-racking, even during victories, but stopped short of saying whether Addo is the right man to lead Ghana to the World Cup, calling it too early to answer that question.
