The Black Stars of Ghana are aiming for a crucial win against Central African Republic on Wednesday when they clash in their penultimate encounter in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
After Round 8 of the African qualifiers, Ghana sits top of Group I with 19 points, three more than Madagascar in second place.
With two matches left to play and six points up for grabs, the Black Stars need four points to secure qualification, granted Madagascar can pick six points from their last two matches.
However, should Madagascar lose any of their matches, the Black Stars of Ghana will need just three points from a possible six to book a place at next year’s mundial.
Today, Ghana takes on the Central African Republic in a crucial encounter scheduled to be played in Morocco at the Stade d’Honneur de Meknes.
Coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo, is aware of what is at stake and wants to make history as the first Ghanaian coach to lead the team to two different World Cups, having qualified the national team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
After the crucial game against the Central African Republic, the Black Stars will return to Ghana to face Comoros in their final game of the qualifiers.
As things stand, everything is in the hands of the Black Stars; win their matches and qualify for what will be their fifth World Cup appearance.
